I would have shot the video horizontally, that is how most screens are oriented. I didn't get hope from the video. I like with the rain and dramatic music it made me feel like something was wrong or someone was hurt.
I think you depicted hope in a unique way. I saw where you were coming from. I could have liked to see a human in the shot maybe looking into the distance of your shots showing that they have hope by smiling or looking serene. The music was good. Something maybe more happy would have made me feel more hopeful. Awesome job!
I liked the music and how each video clip got less and less dark and gloomy as the video progressed, it really did showcase the idea of being hopeful. The end shot of the chimes while the music was coming to an end was my favorite part. Also you cut to the music very, very well.
I feel like the shot focusing on the ground was too long. You get lost in what it is and also it's hard to figure out what the focus is of it. I really like how you transitioned from the cat to the sun through the fence. That flowed together really well
I like how you let the sound of the chimes in at the end but kept the music going. It was a nice conclusion to the video. I'm not sure if I quite feel hope, but it was still interesting.
You conveyed the concept of hope by starting dark and transitioning into light. That's good. I think that is essentially what hope is--the promise that things will get better.
I don't think the shots on their own represented hope very well. But, I think the music represented hope well. So by combining these two, I think that you did a good job conveying hope. The only problem I had was with the orientation of the video. Next time, make sure not to shoot in portrait. Nice video!
I liked the shots that you had, but I don't know if the music went with your theme. It was more suspenseful than anything else, and the shot at the end with the chimes, I would have rather seen a full shot of them versus just the middle.
I think you shouldn't have shot in portrait on your phone. And a few shots I am not really sure how it portrays hope, like the shot of the shiny ground or of just driving down the road. I would have chosen different shots.
The music choice works well since your version of hope is more for hoping for something out of the darkness, rather than something like "I hope I win the lottery". Though you made the comment about your cameras, your ideas for showing natural elements was good, though a bit more of the "light at the end of the tunnel" would help to further emphasize hope.
Interesting video. It's a little more difficult to convey that emotion so going in I didn't really know what to expect. The music you chose did a really good job of conveying that, and I liked the editing. The shots of rain gave me a sense of hope but the cat shots didn't really give me that feeling.
Confused about why this is about hope.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the song you chose and the idea you were going for.
ReplyDeleteThe vertical screen is annoying. Other than that it was very well done.

ReplyDeleteThe video was put together well. Maybe try shooting horizontally to try to fill up the entire viewing frame.
